The Jersey Flames have a long standing tradition with competitive softball. We field teams every year in every age group. The Flames Organization has many National Titles throughout the years and believes in putting teams together that teaches young ladies how to compete at a high level while instilling a culture of values and integrity.
All teams will play at a high level playing in the best tournaments on the East Coast.
The Schaffer 18u Gold team competes in all the most prestigious tournaments around including Elite Super 10, Pennsbury, Team NJ, VA Legendary Summer Scorcher, NE Finest and D-9 to name a few. The Schaffer Gold team has most recently made it to the Quarterfinals at Pennsbury and was the Runner up at the VA Summer Scorcher.
We have developed many players that have gone on to be educated and compete at some prestigious D1, D2 and D3 Universities.
The Jersey Flames are pleased to announce tryout dates for the 2019 / 2020 softball season. We'll be fielding teams for the following age groups: 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, & 18U.
There is no cost to tryout.
Age groups: 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U.
NOTE: Parents are welcome to stay and watch but do not coach from the sideline!
What to Wear and bring?
Something to drink (water), wear regular gym clothes / sweats (no team apparel; i. e. Flames), Cleats, Hat, Glove, Bat, Helmet, Face guard (optional), Batting gloves, sliding pants / pads, etc…
What to expect?
Players will be evaluated in the following areas: speed, fielding, throwing, hitting and short game (bunting and slapping). We will evaluate the pitchers in the following areas: location, movement, velocity and the ability to change speeds. Catchers will be asked to throw from home to second and will also be evaluated on their ability to field bunts, block pitches, and throw to the different bases. Hitting will be done against pitching machines and / or Coach pitch to evaluate the hitter.
